macTEM

Version 1.0.0 · part of the macEM suite, beside mac4DSTEM

macTEM

TEM images, spectra and diffraction, native on Apple silicon.

Open a micrograph or a spectrum image, look, measure, and export a figure, with every number traceable to the method and reference it came from.

The macTEM Image room: a STEM image at its calibration with a distance measurement, the rooms in the sidebar, and calibration, display, measurement and particle settings in the inspector.
The Image room on a GMS .dm4 file: the calibration read from the file, a measured distance, and the room's settings in the inspector.
  • Image

DM3/DM4, TIFF stacks, MRC and Velox EMD at their calibration. Contrast, distances, angles, profiles, particles.

  • FFT

The live transform, radial profile, spot d-spacings, a masked inverse and HRTEM filters.

  • EDS

Velox and GMS spectrum images. Auto ID, Cliff-Lorimer and zeta quantification, wt% and at% maps, regions.

  • EELS

GMS spectrum images. t/λ maps and edge quantification with uncertainties, 383 edges across 95 elements.

  • Diffraction

Calibrate from a ring or the file, fit rings, index spots against a standard or a CIF.

  • Results

Every measurement in one place; CSV, MSA, PNG with scale bar, and the method as JSON.

The numerics live in the open macEM kits, each tested against the Python package the field already uses: RosettaSciIO for files, NumPy, SciPy and scikit-image for images, pymatgen for crystallography, HyperSpy and exSpy for spectroscopy. A result not yet validated against a standard is labelled so.

EELS cross sections are the generalised oscillator strengths of Segger, Guzzinati and Kohl, dft GOS v1.5.0, CC BY 4.0, bundled unchanged.
